celestial bodies in an earthly embrace | oils, cold wax medium, + georgia red clay on stretched canvas. 2021. 40" x 40".
following a similar theme as stepping on marian blue ice, celestial bodies in an earthly embrace seeks to locate the more earthly places and spaces where queer bodies find a sense of belonging. this piece is based on a human-made hole dug into a hillside in the woods behind my family's backyard. Small, protective, and hidden, i see visualize my body fitting neatly into this space and finding a certain sense of comfort.
