a permanence held forever in the threads of my sweaters | abby's hairs, pulled by hand from knitted garments, gilded, and placed in an old box. 2021.

a permanence held forever in the threads of my sweaters is a piece functioning to interlace my personal intra-familial strains with my fear that i may not get to see my dog again as she ages. i found many of her hairs still embedded in the clothing i brought with me the last time i visited home before the pandemic, pulled them out one at a time, and carefully gilded each one with genuine gold leaf as a form of veneration.
